Part 2: Mischtechnik and Axioms of Bringing forth a World
We will explore the axioms of world-building used in painting tradition, and also begin a morning exercise to stimulate our symbolic visual language over the duration of the course.

This week a few threads are introduced : Axioms of World-building, and a few other guidance documents around the contemporary branch of Indirect Oil Painting Known as Mischechnik.
So far you should have begun your value study, and practiced the techniques of tracing down, inking in, imprimatura, and ‘optical grays’. Following this exercise and practicing it from both print-outs/photographs and real life will develop your ability to sculpt form with light and dark – which is an essential skill for mischtechnik and ‘indirect painting’ technique. Make sure to submit your work via either the forum or privately to get feedback.
