Part 3: Techne & Psyche
Our objectives for the following week is to compose our personal work for painting in the tempera grassa variant of mischtechnik.
Continuing our study, we consider our ‘bringing forth a world’ piece, and add to this study a deeper consideration of our ‘symbolic language’ – with a morning practice recommended. We will examine the role of ‘nested compositions’ and see examples of their construction. We will see the construction of the harmonic rectangle as a function for attaining an underlying harmony to bind ambitious compositions. We will also see examples of decalcomania which can produce an inspiring textured imprimatura. And finally we will look at the construction of a meroflaged panel.
