Visions Chamaniques, Quai Branley Museum, Paris

Contributed by admin on December 3, 2023

Two years of curatorial work and fieldworks conducted in the Peruvian Amazon over the last fifteen years by the ethnobotanist, anthropologist and professor of consciousness, David Dupuis, resulted in a stunning exhibition in the anthropology of consciousness and shamanism at the national museum, Quai Branley Paris.

Gratitude goes in particular to Elise Grandgeorge, who assisted me in curating this exhibition and to the associations #lupunaartesamazónicas, Shane, #shipiboconibocenter , #shipiboconibocenter#xapiri and #onanyati.

This exhibition is dedicated to the indigenous peoples of the Peruvian Amazon, who are fighting to defend their rights, their cultures and their way of life. It also includes 20th century contributions to arts relating to visionary experiences and artistic production, including surrealist artist Brion Gysin, ‘beat generation’ author William Burroughs (author of ‘The Naked Lunch’, and contemporary visionary painters such as Alex Grey, Alysson Grey, Martina Hoffmann, Robert Venosa, Laurence Caruana, and Daniel Mirante.
